our story

There it was; a simple piece of paper tacked up on a bus shelter, outside a housing estate on the outskirts of Singapore. The message:

“Amy Chan has been voluntarily cutting hair in our nursing home for the past twenty years. Her generosity enriches our community.”

And with that one little gesture, seen from an overcrowded bus, my day changed, my husband's day changed and so did the spirit of all who read it from the bus. And so Soul Gestures was born.

Soul Gestures is simply about harnessing that spirit; allowing everybody to feel uplifted in their everyday. Soul Gestures is simply telling the tales of little gestures many people are quietly making in every community-everywhere. Soul Gestures is simply celebrating humanity. These stories will be celebrated on bus shelters-everywhere.

We hope that many people will get to experience that same feeling: feel positive about the world, that they belong to a community and maybe even, like us, feel inspired to do something. We hope that Soul Gestures will not only celebrate the positives within every community but will also generate more good for community members everywhere.
